Ready For A Career Change?

How ready are you for a career change? Are you ready to make the leap into the unknown and be comfortable with it? Are you ready to take on new responsibilities? Are you ready to adjust to a new environment?

Before you start sending out resume’s to companies, take a moment to assess why you’re making the career change in the first place:

Is It What You Want - Is a career change something that you want? Or are you simply following the crowd? When you see your friend and colleagues job hopping for the sake of getting higher pay, it is understandable that we feel left out and feel like we should be doing something too. But is it what you really want? Think about it before you hop off to another company, because you could end up regretting your decision if you’re not happy with it.

Why Are You Changing Careers - Are you changing careers for better opportunities? More money? Because you can’t stand some people that you’re working with? Because you hate your job?Whatever the reason you may have for your career change, make sure that you are 100% satisfied with the choice you’re making and not doing it on the spur of the moment.

Who Are You Doing It For - Are you changing careers for you personally? Or are you doing it because of outside pressure and expectations for you to move forward and up the career ladder. If you do want to make the career change, ensure that it is something that you want and you’re not doing it for someone else. Remember it is you that has to do the job, you are the one that is going to have to deal with the pressures and stress of the job. If you do it for someone else, you’re not going to be happy with it.

When Is The Right Time - Making a career change is a big move, and one that you shouldn’t take lightly, much less rush into. Take the time to make sure you’re 100% ready to make the move. Don’t rush off and grab the first job that is available, you need to take time to consider the new job is the right one for you.

Good luck with your career change!
